Bozen – Where the best of 2 cultures meet!

Sip your creamy cappuccino on Walther Square in the company of Walther von der Vogelweide, German minstrel singer from ages ago, shop for local deliciousness at the market square surrounded by Mediterranean dolce vita. In Bozen, the best of Tyrolean and of Italian culture meet and fuse. This you can taste, see and feel everywhere you go. So it happens that one is spoilt for choice when it comes to planning your vacation schedule.

Let us help you with some of our personal favorites here in Bozen:

  • Guided city tours
Get a first impression and take a closer look at Bozen! Best way to do so is one of the many offered guided city tours. The BozenCard waiting for you in Wohnzimmer even gives you free access to such a tour! Get more info here.
  • Museum of Archeology
You simply cannot leave him out, the ice man Ötzi, more than 5000 years old. The museum that houses him is absolutely worth seeing and guess what - the BozenCard gives you free entry to it.
  • Oswald Promenade
Take a wonderful walk through the vinyards along Bozen’s hillside, enjoying a fantastic view of the city and the Rosengarten (Dolomites) in the background. Too beautiful to be true, beautifully kitschy and great for families with children and strollers. The promenade starts in St. Magdalena’s vineyards and goes all the way to St. Anton. Check out the exact stretch and path here.
  • Schloss Runkelstein Castle
This picture-perfect castle is easy to reach on foot via the above described Oswald Promenade and a forest road or by shuttle bus (free) which departs from Waltherplatz Square. The frescos are absolutely spectacular, the tavern offers tasty local food and plenty of rest.
  • Messner Mountain Museum in Firmian
A bit outside of town but visible from afar you will find Schloss Sigmundskron. It has been converted into a museum and houses a permanent exhibit about mankind and the mountains, installed by South Tyrol’s world famous mountaineer Reinhold Messner. The Museum is easy to reach by train going into the direction of Meran.
